Schaeffer Oil Awards Scholarship to Young Farmers

ST. LOUIS - Schaeffer Manufacturing, producers of Schaeffer's Oil, has awarded scholarships to three high school students through the National Young Farmers Program. Each $1,000 scholarship was awarded jointly to the recipient and the college they will attend this fall.

Bryan O'Neal of Columbus, Ind. will be attending Ivy Technical College in Columbus in the fall of 2011. Thomas Daniel Crain, of Cave City, KY, attends Barren County High School in Glasgow, KY. He plans to attend Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and major in diesel mechanics. Kimberlie Nicole Moore is a senior at Livingston High School in Smithland, KY. She plans to attend Murray State University in the fall and major in agriculture science.

Each recipient was required to come from a farm family, be enrolled to attend a state agricultural or related college, and have plans to major in an agricultural or related degree. The awards were announced at the Young Farmer's National Convention in Monterey, Calif., this past December.

"We've worked with the NYFEA for more than 30 years and, last year, we decided to launch this new scholarship program," said Steve Brewer, vice president, sales & marketing, Schaeffer Manufacturing. "We understand that young farmers are the future lifeblood of American agriculture and we want to support these future farmers as much as we can."
